Also, the WHA had Franchises either fold(Calgary Broncos)or move before the League played a single game.Think WCW in it's last year to get a idea of how fucked up they were.Bill Goldthorpe's Afro is classic though.

Good points about the WHA- Serriously, if there was a sudden vacuum in the hockey world, anyone with half a brain (ie, more than Bettman) could run a PROFITABLE league which people would watch.
Bettman is lucky, becasue without Bud Selig to fall back on, Bettman would be the worst commissioner in sports today.
I do have vague recollections of the original WHA, from the Miami Screaming Eagles to the Indianapolis Racers (I'm sure Vito remembers that Indy was the first pro team for a then-19 year old center...)

Yes,Wayne Gretzky played 8 Games for Indianapolis before being traded to Edmonton and thus changing Hockey for the Better in many ways in the First half of the 80's.

Educated guess, because he played early in his career for Winnipeg, which was one of the 4(?) WHA's frnachises to merge into the NHL, and he hung around a LONG time, including Buffalo:
Dale Hawerchuck? (No, I didnt look it up)

Reading the Jericho book now-Funny as Hell at points,at others somewhat sad and poignant.Best Chapter so far is "Halcion Bowling" followed closely by "Proper Crack Buying Etiquette".Required Reading for all aspiring Wrestlers,I'm sure. ;D ;D
