True, however it also gives a air of uncertainty in the Government can fall at any time-You never know when the Next Election is going to be.I have a proposal-Canadian Elections should be held every 4 Years,if the New Government has a majority, and every 3 Years if a Minority. Also,I think it's time to look at voting for the Prime Minister directly, rather than having it be the leader of the Party with the most seats.I don't think You'll see a majority government in Canada for a long time,if ever again.Too many parties competing for the same voters.NDP,Liberals,Green are too similiar, they should be one party.

It looks like the vote splitting is going to give the Conservatives a strengthened Minority, and if they can get some Liberals to vote with them on spending bills in the next Parliament, they're laughing. The strong Job numbers for September don't hurt-107,000 New jobs created. The Liberals are still whining, though.

So it's as I predicted-Conservative minority, more seats than less time,Liberals lost 19 seats nationally and were hammered here in Ontario, where they traditionally do well.Stephan Dion is toast, his career as Liberal leader is on borrowed time.

About how many seats/votes short of a majority are the Conservatives?

They were 12 seats short at 143. But are up 16 seats from 127 in 2006.

So it looks like Barack Obama will get the popular vote, but that pesky Electoral College could still skew things towards McCain.I predict a post election period that will make the aftermath of the 2000 vote look like a walk in the park. The liars(er,I mean attorneys)wait with baited breath, poised akimbo.

Quick question for Ivan-what other races are taking place this Tuesday-I was watching WIVB the other day and saw Adds for various races? What's Baby Joe Mesi running for?Hopefully He'll be a better politician than He was a fighter.

Besides President:
-All seats in the House of Representatives are up, as they are every 2 years. -About 1/3 of the 100 Senate seats are up.
Locally (New York state): -All seats in BOTh houises of the NY State Legislature (Assembly and State Senate) are up.
Baby Fat Joe Mesi is running for the NY State Senate (the one in Albany, not Washington). he is a Democart running against Republican Mike Razenhoffer, an Erie county legislator. Early polls had Mesi up, but recent pols show Razenhoffer pulling even. The seat is currentyly held by Mary Lou Rath, a republican, who is retiring at year's end. The district basically covers Niagara Falls/NorthTonawanda and streches due east into Batavia and parts of West Suburban Rochester.
Plus, locally, Erie County District Attorney is on the ballot. The incumbent, Frank Clark, is not seeking re-election.
Baby Joe, if elected, may be the first functionally brain dead individual elected to public offfice. He's a nice guy, but not bright at all...

I wouldn't say Baby Joe is the FIRST functionally brain dead person elected to office, just the most recent.

So I see Michael Ranzenhoffer beat Mesi pretty handily. As someone who actually has prior political experience,it's actually the right choice.

Mesi never voiced any real policy proposals. When asked about anything, he said "I'll fight for you in Albany."
Yes, he kept saying "fight". Over & over & over again.

Quick question-was this a case of the local Democrats thinking"He's a celebrity,He can get votes"without properly vetting Him and finding out if He has any bona fide ideas? Also, for those people saying Barck Obama has 4 Years to right the country, actually He doesn't-He's got 2,until the Next mid terms. If He doesn't deliver,You'll see a massive swing back to the Republicans in the House and Senate. So Barack-Hilary again for the Dem nomination in 2012?It could happen, unless His Term is a unqualified success.

It didn't take long for Obama to get heat-His choice for Chief of Staff,Rahm Emmanuel,is apparently a very polarizing personanality with a,and I quote"attack dog type personality"which is actually what You want in a Chief of Staff.Lots of second guessing and negativity on this one thogh.

Normally, one wouldn't see somebody challenge an incumbent president in his own party for renomination. The last time that there was serious challenger (from within his own party) to an incumbent president seeking re-election was when Ted Kennedy ran for the Democratic spot against Jimmy Carter in 1980. Carter won, but it split the party, helping lead to Reagan's win.
So, I'd have to say "no"- But with Hilary & Bill, you never know....If I were Obama, I'd try to placate her by offering her the first Supreme Court opening that comes up.
